Well that is it no backing out now. Registration paid for. $80 and yay I get a race bag. Well still riding to work and trying to finsh my assignments only two more to go.
The rain had put a small dampener on things, plus a bout of self diagnosed osteitis pubis which has caused some pain while running. Often lingering for a couple of days, has dampened the mood just a tad.
However not to be beaten, I have bought my self some rather fetching speedos and a pair of goggles. Its O.K. people rest thy visions, no Tony Abbot's for me. I have gone for the extra lycra and got some knee length swimmers. However, prepare for the insult now. They are hipsters, and although I have been exercising fervently hips are still an educated guess. And the little fat pouch at the abdomen which I have been cultivating for several years does not believe in the term stealth. It sticks out like a cowboy (not of the village people kind) in a gay bar (same sex bar for the politically correct).
I would like to take this moment to acknowledge that as boring as that swimming stuff is its hard hard hard work. Kudos to those that do it day in and day out.
On the other hand, I am very much looking forward to the mountain bike ride. A casual 40km ride following the Mulgrave river for a while then exiting at some point near the Boulders at Babinda and back again. There was a time when this idea would leave me saggin further into the couch on the fear that I might miss a good game of footy. To steal a turn of phrase from a well known outdoor shop "that ain't livin fatso...".
Well with 4 months and 3 days to go. Looks like there are a few more ascents in the future. For those keen to join such a crazy endeavour feel free to register
