I now have a sixth sense. A sense of irrationality. It appears now I have transcended the world of dieting. This does not mean I live on a diet of junk food and alcohol (one can only dream). It does mean that I am lost, sluggish and feel awful with out my exercise and have a need to do something every day. I find that I am forcing myself to have two days off and sometimes I get a little silly and only have one. It has become a lifestyle and one I am glad I have undertaken. The ride to work is refreshing and has my mind well and truly switched on by the time I get there.
My achievements since last time have been many. Did I mention that I ran from the Gordonvale to half way up the pyramid in an hour. Thank you Euan for your support. I nearly forgot to check the time and this monumental occasion (well is for me) just about passed me by with out noticing. For those who aren't aware this is the only goal that has to be achieved to run the Pyramid Race (ed. note: The organizers of the event call it "The Great Pyramid Race" for purposes of modesty it shall be referred to as the pyramid race, as the Great Pyramids are in Giza, not some hick town south of Cairns).
I recently attempted a Rogaine, for those that are unaware rogaining is like orienteering with no set course but plenty of check points. I thought it was going to be for beginners. More fool me for thinking 'Come n try' stands for beginners. Not so!!! My legs were all cut up, from the spinafex grass, I am not completely sure but I think I would have traversed about 7km of country side with my partners and missed only a handful of checkpoints. We finished 15 out of 35 and were certainly well placed to get into the top 8 in future. However, I think other rogaines are a bit more competitive then this one. I am lining up for another slightly longer one on the 21st of March and looking forward to it. They usually come in 3/6/9/12 or 24 hour events. Might cross a few of those off next year. As I have been riding to and from work on nearly all early shifts which constitute bout 80% of my working life. I have been notching up the kilometers. I am starting to throw a 6km run in their when I jump off the bike. I also do a swim leg after the run. Well actually the swim leg is me running past my house into my neighbours pool and falling in like a Great Brown Bear. So not quite triathlon material yet.
But they are in my sights. First things first the pyramid. Then a multi-sport triathlon through bush land. 750m swim/2.5km paddle ---> 18km moutnain bike ride (X-country) ---> and a mild bushland run of 7km.... sounds mad and fun.
This is my sixth sense, the sense of irrationality looking forward to the next twelve months.
Now where did I put that wallet... How much!!! For a good X-country mountain bike JEEZ!!!
